Vaxim has a range of individual health services designed to keep you aware and informed of your current state of health. These services are not designed to replace your need for a doctor, simply to provide a convenient way to review aspects of your health. By participating in these health services they can help to identify which of our allied health programs you may benefit from.
Health & Lifestyle Assessments
Our health assessments generally take around 25 minutes. They measure important body statistics like, Body Mass Index, Blood Sugar Levels, Cholesterol, Heart Rate and Blood Pressure. They will identify potential areas of concern and our nurses will provide feedback on actions that participants can take to improve these areas of their health. Participants are provided with a report which tracks their progress over time and the employer is provided with a management summary identifying areas of concern across their workforce.
The assessment also has an optional extra to assist employees in making improvements to their health and lifestyle through an 'eat right exercise right' diary. This diary has been specifically developed by doctors to help patients focus on their lifestyle actions. This allows their health professionals to identify choices that may be impacting their health status, in both a positive and negative way.
Skin Cancer Checks
It is important to regularly check our skin for changes to existing spots or the emergence of new spots. Our qualified dermatologists will provide a thorough examination of participants. Employees will be given a better understanding of the warning signs for potential skin cancer development, what they should be looking out for and how they can actively reduce the risk of skin cancer through better sun protection information.
Vision Testing
Our qualified optometrists will conduct some basic eye tests looking at visual acuity, colour blindness & general eye health. Information on general eye care will be provided to participants, along with referrals for further testing if required for adjustments to current prescriptions.
Hearing Tests
Hearing loss can increase the risk of accidents in the workplace. Hearing loss can be attributed to a number of factors some of which can be found in the workplace. Regular hearing tests, particularly in workplaces with constant or loud noise, can help identify issues before they come serious. This allows a management plan to be devised to reduce or remove the likelihood of a worsening condition. An audiometry test is a good way to initially screen employees for hearing loss, by testing participants' ability to hear different frequencies of beeps and whistles.
Podiatry
Our podiatrist will assess, diagnose and outline treatments and rehabilitation for conditions affecting the feet and lower limbs including skin and nail disorders, corns, calluses and in-grown toenails. Podiatry consultations will also provide foot health education covering areas such as self care techniques and prevention of foot problems. This is especially important in situations where there may be pre-existing conditions that predispose people to foot care problems e.g. diabetes, circulation problems & gout.
Spinal Checks
Our qualified Chiropractor assesses an individual's spinal health from the feet to the head and advises on how it can be improved. This service is particularly beneficial for those who spend long hours at a computer or desk. A Spinal Check can identify issues causing back aches and headaches and allow a treatment to be identified to rectify the problem. All patients receive a written report from the Chiropractor.
